The goal was to move beyond static museum-style tributes and create a living, breathing digital entity that could react to modern-day team events while maintaining the authentic voice, humor, and basketball IQ of the original legend.

2The Solution

We bypassed the "uncanny valley" of generic chatbots by building a specialized Persona Engine on AWS:

  • Data Ingestion & Synthesis: We processed decades of interviews, press conferences, and personal writings using Amazon Kendra and SageMaker to map the legend's unique vocabulary, catchphrases, and tactical basketball philosophy.
  • Contextual Awareness: The model was designed to bridge the gap between past and present. It could discuss historical games with 1970s accuracy while providing "opinionated" commentary on last night’s box score.
  • Voice & Tone Calibration: Using AWS Polly and custom voice-cloning techniques, we ensured the audio responses carried the specific cadence and regional accent of the persona, providing a multi-sensory experience for fans.

The digital persona became a cornerstone of the fan experience, humanizing the brand’s history while driving the bottom line:
